But did you know making homemade croutons is actually really easy? In this recipe, I’ll show you how to make homemade garlic and herb croutons from a bagel.
Ingredients needed for Garlic & Herb Bagel Croutons
- Bagel
- Olive Oil
- Salt & Pepper
- Red pepper powder
- Garlic powder
- Italian seasoning
I love this seasoning mix because it delivers a delicious garlic and herb flavor. The red pepper powder adds a subtle depth without being too spicy, perfectly complementing the Italian seasoning and garlic powder for a tasty flavor combo.
How To Make Homemade Garlic & Herb Bagel Croutons
Step One: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Step Two: Slice the Bagel
Chop bagel into small, bite-size cubes.
Step Three: Season the Bagel Cubes
Place the bagel cubes in a medium sized bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, salt, pepper, red pepper powder, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Toss until each cube is well coated.
Step Four: Bake the Croutons
Spread the seasoned bagel cubes on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy your homemade bagel croutons!
How Should You Store Homemade Croutons?
When storing croutons, ensure they are completely cool before placing them in an airtight container, like the one shown in the picture below. Homemade croutons should stay fresh for 1 to 1.5 weeks. However, to be safe, discard them if you notice any unusual smell or taste. Its also important to store the container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Ingredients
- 1 Bagel
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp red pepper powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Slice the bagel into bite-size cubes.
- Toss the cubes in a medium bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, red pepper powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until each piece is well coated.
- Spread the cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown making sure to flip half way through.
